At times a user finds it desireable to not just perform a "Save As" of a Package, but instead "Clone" the contents of the Package so that perhaps minor adjustments may be made to a second version of the reports or documents without disturbing the original reports and documents that still need to reside inside the original Package. This is when Cloning become desireable. The Cloning feature must be enabled by Qvinci Support. Please Contact Support to enable this feature for the following platforms:
- Qvinci for Franchises
- Qvinci for Accountants
When the feature is enabled a user may clone an existing Package via the following steps:
- From the Reports & Libraries > My Packages tab, open the desired Package
- Use “Save As” to make a copy of the Package
- Open the newly saved Package
- Click the “Clone Sections” button
- You will be prompted for a suffix that will be appended to the end of the new Reports and Documents that appear in the Package
- The total name of each Package Section, including the suffix, cannot exceed 50 characters
- Only the Package Sections are cloned. Any header and footer are left as is but may be manually replaced
- The layout and formatting information for each cloned section is also copied over from the original section layout
