We have seen several customers run into problems with the Qvinci Sync Installer when their workstation has Symantec Protection installed. The QvinciSyncSetup.exe installer is deleted when you try to launch it to install the Qvinci Sync Client Application. This document describes two methods to disable or enable Symantec Endpoint Protection on your computer. You may need to disable Symantec if you are unable to download and install the Qvinci Sync Setup program.
Adding an Exception to Symantec Endpoint Protection
Step 1. Reinstall the QvinciSyncSetup.exe since it will likely be removed from the computer.
Step 2. When you download the sync app, click the (ellipsis) ... or other option to be able to choose the option Show in Folder.
(DO NOT RUN IT or the same thing will re-occur and you will have to re-download it.)
Step 3. Once it is shown in the folder, take note of its file path.
Step 4. Launch Symantec from the system tray (much like our application).
Step 5. Navigate the menu to Change Settings > Exceptions > Configure Settings > Add > Application Exception.
Step 6. Browse the same file path seen in Step 3 and select QvinciSyncSetup.exe
Step 7. Once the application is set as an exception, you should be able to launch the QvinciSyncSetup application.
Disabling Symantec Endpoint Protection
Note: For this to work you must be an administrator on the computer, as this requires the administrator password.
Step 1. Navigate to the Windows Start menu.
Step 2. In the search box type in Run or WinR
Step 3. In the Run menu, type in Smc -stop and click Ok.
Step 4. You'll be prompted for a password. Enter the password.
Note: Symantec Endpoint Protection will now be disabled and you can proceed with the installation of software.
Enabling Symantec Endpoint Protection
Step 1. Navigate to the Start menu.
Step 2. In the search box type in Run or WinR.
Step 3. In the Run menu, type in Smc -start and click Ok.
Symantec Endpoint Protection will now be enabled.
